Nothing can stop Didier’s — not even a drunken teenager driving a minivan into the building.
Last Thanksgiving this favorite sweet spot among Whitworth students and north-enders was rocked to its core (literally) when a more-than-tipsy 17-year-old girl lodged a vehicle more than 20 feet into the middle of the building. The yogurt shop seemed to be a total loss, leaving its devoted customers with one question: What’s going to happen to Didier’s?
This family-run go-to fro-yo destination was known as the home of excellent cold treats: Its shakes and frozen yogurt have led even inhabitants of the South Hill make the trek up north. In order to keep Spokane united, Didier’s had to recover from this terrible calamity.
Fast-forward to late February. Somehow, the damage that many thought was beyond repair had been cleared away and the doors were open again. In the heat of the summer, patrons of Didier’s are thankful to have a cool treat and the chance to eat Mike’s Incredible Burger.
Knowing that it’s here to stay makes everything taste a bit better.
