Metamorphosed from a Blockbuster video store, Savory makes full use of its big-box heritage. The space is huge, and its creators have gone to great lengths to transform it with bamboo floors, mood lighting, vessel sinks, a feature wall of vibrant red color-blocking, and two “chef’s booths.” The menu has a regional bent, with emphasis on farm-to-table. What Savory chefs can’t grow, they make from scratch. Entrees come in generous portions, varying from applewood-grilled meats to seafood, vegetarian options and dressed-up comfort food. (July 2012)
