The city of Spokane is looking for youth to fill three open positions
on its Human Rights Commission. The commission, which meets
monthly, advises the City Council on local issues related to human rights and
discrimination and organizes community education projects. All Spokane
residents ages 16 to 18 are welcome to apply to represent their City Council
district on the commission.
Joanne Benham of the Spokane Regional Youth Department said
that youth offer the commission a unique and valuable perspective on issues such as diversity
in Spokane. Applicants should have a passion for social justice and be
willing to work closely with adults.
Applications are due by 5 pm on April 5. To apply or get
more information, contact the Spokane Regional Youth Department at 509-625-6440
or visit their Website.
