Trader Joe's coming to Spokane

At long last! It looks like the much-beloved specialty grocer is planning to open a South Hill Trader Joe's location sometime next year. The company has not announced anything yet, but KXLY has the city confirming preliminary meetings and the Spokesman says it has confirmation from the company.

Word is the official announcement will come sometime tomorrow or Friday.

Spokanites have long expressed a desire for a Trader Joe's (largely through Facebook), and news has already sent some into fits of delirium — at least, judging by their grammatical abilities.

"Yeah!!! Are reason to go to Spocompton!" writes one fan on the Facebook group page.

While not being too bitter about it, we would like to point out The Inlander heard about this three months ago, but the famously secretive retailer denied having any plans to set up shop in Spokane for at least two years.
