ALL WEEKEND

This entire weekend, at least one night, you’ll want to check out the 10th annual Elkfest over in Browne’s Addition. It’s free and all-ages as always. Check out the lineups and other pertinent information right here.

FRIDAY

How is it First Friday again? Time just slips through the fingers … familiarize yourself with all of the art and musical happenings around town for the monthly event here.

Singer-songwriter Star Anna (see above) hits the Bartlett stage with openers Heather Reid and Cedar & Boyer, which starts at 8 pm. Star Anna, originally from Ellensburg, has that earthy alto voice reminiscent of Brandi Carlile. $10 and all-ages.

Jones Radiator is bringing in hip-hopper Opski Chan, Blvck Ceiling, Bloody Gloves (an excellent time to catch the 2014 Band to Watch if you missed them at last week’s Volume) and Creepshow tonight. It will start around 9.

SATURDAY

To listen to Hooves is to be hit with a tsunami of sound that will rattle and shake your very marrow. But their music isn’t just about being as loud as possible. Instead, the experimental doomgaze sound incorporates darkness and light through each song, creating a sense of wonder in every room they play. The progressive instrumental four-piece, a 2013 Inlander Band to Watch, is out with a new batch of songs on Valley of the Craftsmen. The cassette version already has been released; on Saturday the band lets the album version loose. Hooves plays Saturday with Prizehog and Space Movies at the Big Dipper at 7 pm. The all-ages show is $5.

Mootsy’s is rockin’ super hard Saturday with Losing Skin, Cold Blooded and Nailbastard. Get ready to have your mind blown at this show, which starts around 9:30 pm.

Iron Goat Brewing Co. is celebrating its anniversary this weekend. Saturday expect performances from Floating Crowbar, Fun Ladies, Go Man Gos, Mama Doll (another 2014 Band to Watch) and Folkinception. Yeah. Music starts at 12:30pm and is $5.
