Tow Truck Driver

Posted on Sat, May 5, 2012 at 8:23 AM

I came out of a tavern and found a tow truck driver behind my car. It was
an otherwise empty lot at 9 P.M. on a Thursday, and I had only been parked
there one hour. I arrived before he had hooked me up, but he claimed "I
have to take the car." First he wanted $100 cash so I could not stop
payment. I handed him my Visa debit card and he did not even process it. He
had a bigger commission in mind: his portion of the tow and storage fees.
So he milks the clock and hooks me up for towing. Early the next morning, I
called the boss and he said "he would not charge me for storage," but when
I arrived at the shop he handed me a bill for $305! The driver had
worked "longer than the $225 an hour rate" for this company that routinely
dings Spokanites over the Washington State Patrol rate of $177 an hour.
Shame on these same crooks that unjustly impounded hundreds of cars at
Hoopfest 2010.
