BLOG
bitchmedia
Bitch Media, most commonly known for its magazine Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture, pulls on my achy feminist heartstrings. While I enjoy the magazine’s critical and interesting discussions on popular culture, I really love their blogs. Bitch examines everything from sports to humor to movies to music to science and politics. When you visit, read about Chinese-American lesbian identity, the history of the Women’s World Cup, or about Maria, a 48-year-old hairdresser and artist who supplements her income by selling sexual services to clients she meets online. Wow.

The Deadliest Serial Killers in History
I've always had a strange fascination with serial killers. I wrote a speech about Jeffrey Dahmer in my college speech class. I love Sufjan Stevens’ song “John Wayne Gacy Jr.” So naturally The Deadliest Serial Killers in History appeals to my creepy fascination with sociopaths. The e-book profiles 26 infamous murderers — their personal lives, the brutal details of their killing sprees, and the aftermath — from the 1800s to modern times. The book highlights Elizabeth Bathory, the Hungarian countess who tortured virgins and bathed in their blood. And Gary Ridgway — the Green River Killer, who had at least 49 victims, one from Spokane. And a guy named Richard Chase, who was nicknamed the Vampire of Sacramento. And that’s just naming a few.
COLORING BOOKS
Art Masterpieces to Color
I like to color. Luckily for me, Dover Publications makes coloring books for adults. Their intricate coloring books feature works by Frida Kahlo, Van Gogh, and Raphael. Or, if I’m feeling frisky, I can choose from pictures of botanical gardens, American muscle cars, medieval tapestries, or Civil War garments. These things are so pretty I’m not ashamed to pin them on my refrigerator.
