Cochinito Taqueria
Take Taco Tuesday to the next level with a margarita kit from Cochinito.
At the end of March, the Washington State Liquor & Cannabis Board issued a temporary rules change to allow restaurants with a spirits license to sell sealed liquor to-go when purchased with food. Since then, eateries have gotten creative with options like pre-made cocktails (currently allowed in Idaho only), mixers and drink kits to recreate a cocktail bar experience from the safety of home.

Here’s some options that caught our eye lately.
  • In Coeur d’Alene, 315 Martinis & Tapas has put its bartenders to work mixing up pre-made cocktails, sold in sealed jars, for curbside pickup. During the offer’s first weekend, the bar sold more than 500 drinks in just a few hours. Get updates on Facebook.
  • In addition to selling sealed bottles of vodka, whiskey, gin, rum and tequila to-go (and for quite a bargain), nYne Bar & Bistro has introduced several cocktail kits over the past weeks, for mules, margaritas, rum punch and some of its house favorites.
  • Coeur d’Alene’s Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery is selling pre-made, small-batch cocktails through its online ordering system. Choices include a huckleberry lemon drop, mojito, whiskey sour, bloody mary and house specials like the Basil Instinct and Tropic Thunder.

    Hogwash Whiskey Den
Shrubs and other mixers are available to-go.
The team at Hogwash Whiskey Den has been mixing up tasty shrubs and mixers to make home bartending a breeze. A grapefruit cardamom shrub ($12 for a 16-ounce jar) is one of many recent choices available to pick up with a food order and to enjoy from the safe distance of your own patio. See the latest offerings on Facebook.
  • Cochinito Taqueria continues to offer margarita kits made with fresh-squeezed juices and house syrups. Next time you stop by for tacos to-go, choose one of three marg options for $12 each: classic lime, prickly pear agua fresca or Jamaica. Add a bottle of El Jimador tequila for $20 and take Taco Tuesday to the next level.
  • Since reopening for carry-out service a few weeks ago, the Globe Bar & Kitchen downtown added cocktail kits, including gin and tonics, mimosas, margaritas and pina coladas, to its menu, which is available daily for take-out and delivery from noon to 8 pm.
  • The Elk Public House was one of the first spots to roll out cocktail kits to-go as soon as the LCB allowed it. The bar continues to rotate its offerings from classics to house specialties like the El Que’s margarita mix.
