by Inlander Staff & r & & r & Lots of Calcium, Anyway & r & They don't let us out of the Bin often, but sometimes we're allowed to go for a drive.

Passed the Emde Sports van in traffic the other day -- they organize local swimming and cycling events. Even had a banner ad on the side: "Valley Girl Triathlon, July 6 '06." As we approached, we figured the driver would be some example of a strapping, athletic, health-food nut.

She was eating an ice cream cone. Two scoops.

Synchronized Scheduling & r & Tickets for the Spokane Symphony's 2006-07 season go on sale today. A selection from many highlights: a double dose of Johannes in October, with the "Brahms Blast" (violin and piano concertos) along with, two weeks later, Frank Hernandez singing in the Requiem; Gunther Schuller returning a year from now to conduct a program including Beethoven's Seventh; Carmina Burana and Mendelssohn's Reformation symphony appearing on a single evening next April. "Symphony on the Edge" will appear once again in both fall and spring, and the Pops series features concerts devoted to George Gershwin, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Bugs Bunny. From the traditional (symphonies Pathetique and Fantastique) to the contemporary (works by Takashi Yoshimatsu and Einojuhani Rautavaara), Eckart has been busy programming variety.

You've Got Regal Mail & r & You know those promotional CDs that AOL keeps sending you? You've gotten several dozen, right? And that was just last week. But the question is: What did you do with them? If you were as enterprising as the geeks at www.stupidco.com, you waited until you had 4,000 of those CDs, and then you assembled them into a 150-pound throne. Which barely fits through doors, but still. Folks, that's American know-how maximizing its bandwidth.

Tune Before June Looms & r & You have eight weeks until Bloomsday. If you were to run one mile this weekend, two miles the following Saturday, and so on ... why, you'd be able to finish that darn race. Lucky for you, if you can roll out of bed by 8:30 on upcoming Saturday mornings (March 18-April 29), motivational speakers will get you fired up, followed by 9 am training runs of just those incrementally longer distances. You'll walk, jog or run on the SFCC campus and/or on the Centennial Trail. Visit www.bloomsdayrun.org or call 482-2356.
