On Friday, see writer-at-large Ann Colford from 2-4 pm; Lewis and Clark series writer Robert Carriker from 4-6 pm; and Editor Ted McGregor from 6-8 pm. On Saturday, it's the author of this week's cover story, Jack Nisbet, from 11 am-noon; music and film writer Luke Baumgarten from noon-2 pm; and Treading Lightly series writer Paul Haeder from 2-4 pm. On Sunday, columnist Robert Herold will appear from 11 am-noon; Arts Editor Michael Bowen from noon-2 pm; and InHealthNW Editor Suzanne Schreiner from 2-4 pm.

Cheeseburgers in a Museum & r & Now showing at the Hayden Library through July 8: a Smithsonian Institute traveling exhibit entitled "Key Ingredients: America by Food." You can savor 500 years of everyday American food with a gumbo of events including cooking demonstrations (June 3), a health-and-nutrition expo and international foods night (June 9), bread making (June 16), wine tasting (June 23) and an all-American barbecue and ice cream social (July 8), along with movies (June 12-16) about, you guessed it, food.

Curing a Curatorial Gap & r & Ben Mitchell is the MAC's new curator of art. Mitchell, who has been a director or curator at museums in Washington, Michigan and Montana, is currently the director of exhibits and programs at the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyo. He'll start in August. Mitchell's responsibilities will include acquiring and planning for the exhibitions of visual art, along with scheduling the MAC's public programming and visits by artists and scholars.

Swinging for Fences & r & After winning a tournament over the Memorial Day weekend, the Spokane Bandits Baseball Club, composed of 13-year-old sluggers, has earned a berth in the World Series -- the World Series of the United States Specialty Sport Association, that is, to be held in Chino Hills, Calif., from July 24-31. In the meantime, they need to do some fund-raising. To pitch in, call 990-8008.
