Okay, you don't see guns, bad slapstick, a big make-out scene or spaceships, and you won't hear offensive language or "dumb blonde" jokes. What you will get here is surprisingly funny; sorority girl gets dumped by Harvard-bound boyfriend, applies to Harvard to get boy back and who eventually ends up proving to everyone that there is a brain under her golden locks.

Reese Witherspoon pulls off the perfect part of being an airy blonde who's Miss June in her campus calendar and president of her sorority with a 4.0 in fashion accessories and who tackles at totally stuffy student body and applies herself to becoming a law student with flair. While in college, she assists her professor, along with other classmates including her ex-boyfriend and his new snooty fiance, in a murder case with a couple of twists that only she picks up on because she reads Cosmopolitian magazine and so on.

This movie is big laugh FUNNY in that it can be enjoyed by the whole family or by a regular guy taking a date and not having to worry about falling asleep. Sure, some of the parts are out there, but overall the movie rolls along with a lot of fresh material and is a good change from all of the regular high-budget, so-called summer "got to see" hits that fizzle.
