Digital testing grounds in Spokane elections

Spokane's February special election seemed innocent enough, but if you were over the age of 45, you were likely hit with a barrage of "dark" digital advertising via Google that The Stranger suggests ensured the passage of a proposition to hire more firefighters and police. The digital campaign gave Google clients the unique ability to experiment with the reach of dark ads in a smaller election, rather than the larger nation-wide elections. (The Stranger)
