NEWS: An inmate in the Spokane County Jail died on Friday after reportedly climbing onto a guardrail on a mezzanine and jumping headfirst into the concrete floor. It's the latest in a series of inmate deaths in the jail.

FBI officials acted without political bias when they launched an investigation into possible links between Russia and Trump campaign aids in 2016, according to a long-awaited report from the U.S Justice Department's independent inspector general. Small-town democracy
To break a 78-to-78 vote tie between two candidates for a position on the Fairfield Town Council, Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton used a long-standing tradition of placing two small balls assigned to each of the candidates inside a milk bottle and shaking it. Diversifying cable
The Spokane City Council gave the city the green light to begin negotiations with TDS Telecommunications to work out a contract for them to operate in the city in an effort to provide an alternative to Comcast. (Spokesman-Review)
Not the first time
At least three other inmates inside the Spokane County Jail have attempted suicide by jumping from the mezzanine. Director of Spokane County Detention Services Mike Sparber is looking into installing bars to prevent people from jumping. (Spokesman-Review)
