FEAST OF LOVE

Oregon is the background for this multi-relationship meditation on love and all its component vices (lust, adultery, idealism). Greg Kinnear's a little overexposed in the disaffected middle-aged white male department, but we can never get enough of Morgan Freeman, who manages to imbue even stereotypes with humanity. (LB) Rated R

THE GAMEPLAN

Joseph Kingman should consider a vasectomy. Seriously. When you're the world's best football player and a perennial playboy bachelor something's bound to sneak up on you. That's exactly what happens when Kingman (the Rock) answers a doorbell one day to find he has a daughter. One part Any Given Sunday, one part Adventures in Babysitting and ten parts Big Daddy mix to form just about the most half-baked, bland film concept we can think off. From the masters of bland cinema, Disney. (LB) Rated PG

IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON

Nova producer David Sington directs a documentary featuring members of the Apollo crews who flew in the nine missions to the moon in the late '60s and early '70s. Lots of unseen NASA footage and detailed memories from the likes of Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins, Jim Lovell, Eugene Cernan, and others. The media-shy Neil Armstrong did not take part. (ES) Rated PG

IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH

Despite the success of Paul Haggis lately (including the fact that he won, like, three Oscars in two years), this film is getting the same small-release treatment his last serendipitous success, Crash, did. That's probably because studios are still a little squeamish of post-9/11 critique films like Elah, which begins with the search for a missing GI recently home and becomes an examination of the case for war. Starring Charlize Theron, Tommy Lee Jones, James Franco and Josh Brolin. (LB) Rated R

THE KINGDOM

When an FBI team (Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman) is sent to Saudi Arabia to investigate a horrific terrorist bombing, they find that local politics and traditions get in the way of everything they're trying to do. Part character study, part extremely intense action film. (ES) Rated R
