by INLANDER STAFF & r & & r & BABY MAMA & r & & r & Busy career woman Kate (Tina Fey) decides that, husband or not, it's time to have a baby. When a doctor tells her that her uterus isn't up to snuff, she goes the surrogate-mom route, but chooses white trash Angie (Amy Poehler) to do the job. The film starts off with good comic situations, but Poehler overdoes the cutesy/stupid business, Fey's character isn't nearly as smart as she's supposed to be, and, pardon me, but I believe the film's message is that it's OK to have unprotected sex with a total stranger. Embarrassingly bad stuff. (ES) Rated PG-13

From the absurdist who brought the world Shaolin Soccer comes a daffy story about a poor dad who can't buy his son the toy he wants so he goes looking for something special in a landfill known to be frequented by UFOs. Slapstick ensues. (LB) Rated PG

DECEPTION

Nerdy Ewan McGregor gets hooked into a sex club full of successful professionals by the charming, roguish Hugh Jackman. Stuff goes wrong, obviously, and it seems the sex club was an elaborate ruse to trap McGregor in a game of intrigue that will eventually lead to his being scapegoated for something or other. Problem for Jackman is that the nerdy McGregor solves problems for a living, and people screwing with his life has become problem No. 1. (LB) Rated R

HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY

"Flight 420 to Amsterdam, now boarding." Everyone's favorite minority slackers return. Aboard a flight to weed central, an old white woman mistakes Kumar for a terrorist. The two are arrested, pegged as a Jihadist on the one hand and a North Korean communist on the other -- enemies of America in any case -- and must fly to freedom with the help of Doogie Howser.
