NATION: Some current and former U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents are members of a secret Facebook group where they joked about the death of migrants, discussed throwing burritos at Latino members of congress, and posted a sexually explicit illustration involving Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, ProPublica reports.

Over a dozen Democratic members of Congress travelled to the southern border to tour two detention facilities for migrants in Texas the same day that ProPublica's report on the secret Border Patrol Facebook page. Shots fired
After Spokane County Sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Thurman was fired last month for allegedly talking about killing black people with another officer, he's responded by filing a tort claim for $12.5 million in damages, alleging that Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich defamed him at a press conference regarding his termination. More beds
The Spokane City Council passed plan to buy property near Spokane Valley to build a homeless shelter that could serve over 100 people starting this fall. The city is reportedly splitting the $1.8 million cost of the property with Spokane County. Additionally, the council also approved funding for 80 new beds specifically for children, women and families to make up for previous cuts to services. (Spokesman-Review)
