Fine dining should be a memorable experience, from the moment you enter the restaurant to the way the food is prepared and presented. Whether it’s craft cocktails and decadent desserts or a sumptuous meal with perfectly paired wine, Satay Bistro delivers that and more.

“Everything is made from scratch,” says owner and longtime Coeur d’Alene restaurateur Rob Elder, whose menu is a dynamic interpretation of American fusion.

Try Satay staples like sea bass with smoked tomato vinaigrette, marinated filet mignon or scratch-made pastas. Or explore rotating entrée, soup, appetizer and dessert specials that Satay calls dinner creations.

Discovering Satay is like finding the out-of-the-way spot we all seek when traveling, one that was recently voted top 100 most romantic and best date night restaurant.

Located on Fourth Street north of the freeway, the 1940s building with its rounded brick entryway is unassuming. Inside, however, Satay channels Old World charm with subtle lighting, dark fresco-like walls with metallic accents and cozy seating areas to create an elegant yet unpretentious vibe.

The newly remodeled space includes a wraparound patio with removable windows for al fresco dining in warmer weather and a fireplace for chilly North Idaho evenings. Perch at the elegant serpentine bar or reserve the cozy wine cellar dining room at no extra charge. The custom onyx table with seating for up to 10 mysteriously bathes the room in amber light, making your meal feel even more magical.

Satay is an unlikely location for a restaurant, says Elder, “and yet, once you’ve been there, you’re hooked.”
