Re: “The Future Sounds Like...

Good list of bands we want to see, and I would add Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Slash.

Re: “Pay to Play

And, every original artist from the Beatles to Pit Bull started as a cover artist. So, BMI, ASCAP, you're being awfully short sighted.

Re: “Pay to Play

The ASCAP or BMI rep will say "nothing is for free, you have to pay." But, in truth, the money goes into the pockets of the executives, nowhere else. The artists are paid ONLY by downloads, record sales and radio airplay. Nowhere else. Period. So, the $10,000 charged to a small local venue goes only into the pockets of the executives, end of story. They closed down a local open mic in my town of 3,000. The owners lost so much business, they had to close down. Thanks BMI rep, your mother must be so proud. And, even if the owners could have come up with the $10,000, NOT A NICKLE WOULD GO TO THE WRITERS OR ARTISTS!!! Shame, shame, shame, shame.

Re: “Pay to Play

It's extortion plain and simple. I can see the merit of paying ONE ... but all three collect for the same service. The Law has to be changed, it affects small business, local entertainment...frankly, it's RIGGED!

Re: “Wanna Rock?

Ultramega OK came out in '88, Louder than Love came out in '89, Bleach came out in '89, and Facelift came out in '90. Thank God for gloom, heroin and Seattle, which delivered us from 80's hair metal.

Re: “Country Rising

Do yourself a favor and see Simpson. His band is tight, and he has a voice that'll give you chills. It's like a hybrid of Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard with range and power. And get all three of his albums. High Top Mountain and Metamodern Sounds are genius. Sailor's Guide is good, too, but the first two are essential.

Re: “Heart of Darkness

"...who grew up in the San Gabriel Valley on the east side of Los Angeles" - a tad hyperbolic, no? This guy grew up in SOUTH PASADENA, not exactly the mean streets, k?

Re: “They Love It Loud

I saw them in Boise last week, it was definitely the best KISS show I have seen, and I have seen nearly all incarnations of the band. They sounded great and looked liked a band half their age! Paul was rolling around and jumping around, you wouldn't know he has had his hip replaced. If you never heard of KISS and this was your first show, you would have no idea, they were pushing 70!

Re: “Good Spins

Conor from Dancing Plague doesn't pitch shift his vocals or "manipulate" them. That's all natural

Re: “Good Spins

The Local Pavlov EP was done with Gil, Bryan Coats (Black water Prophet) on drums and Ken Wolcott (the Hallows) Jeff and Travis joined after.

Re: “One Night at the Bayou

This reminds me of Liverpool's Cavern Club made legendary by the Beatles. Way cool.
