Geoff Tate brings 30th anniversary celebration of Operation: Mindcrime to Spokane

Geoff Tate, the former lead singer of Seattle prog-metal pioneers Queensrÿche, is bringing a celebration of that band's breakthrough Operation: Mindcrime album to Spokane for a show in October.

Operation: Mindcrime, a 1988 hard-rock opera involving a junkie brainwashed into becoming a hitman for an underground political group (seriously), propelled the band from cult favorites to mainstream success thanks to songs like "Revolution Calling," "I Don't Believe In Love" and "Eyes of A Stranger" that became MTV staples. The band's follow-up, Empire, was another hit thanks to its title track and omnipresent Pink Floyd-esque power ballad "Silent Lucidity."

Tate split from the band acrimoniously in 2012 after 30 years together, and while there's still a Queensrÿche touring with a different singer, there's no mistaking Tate's powerhouse vocals for anyone else. He's released a couple of solo albums over the years, and continued to tour performing the music of Queensrÿche.

On Oct. 16, Tate will headline the Bing Crosby Theater, performing Operation: Mindcrime in its entirety, as well as other hits from his former band. Ticket range from $27-$47. They are on sale starting today, available at the Bing's website or any TicketsWest location.
