The Wait is Over

It’s here! It’s here! It’s here! Ski season is finally here! While the season is still a little ways off from being in full swing, area ski resorts are bragging early snow and building bases. Ski resorts in the Inland Northwest are open or are scheduling to open, as we speak. Snow is forecasted and is falling in the higher elevations. This is the perfect time to get an early season jump on building those leg muscles. You remember those first few days are always a reminder of the squats that you didn’t do this summer. Well, this is your opportunity to get them built up for those anticipated epic powder days. It is also a good time to refine some of those skills lost over the summer months.

About this time last year, I was carefully crafting how I could accomplish the elusive 100-day ski year. While I got off to a good start, I was distracted by road trips, which usually involved at least one day of travel on either side. Excuses aside, I got in 95 days before I put on my summer wax and said goodbye to one of the most epic seasons I have ever experienced. After last winter I had no feeling of regret for not getting those last five ski days. I did, however, ski 13 different resorts in four states. Not too shabby.

On to this season. Am I calculating how to make 100? Always. But I’ve decided to just go ski. Of course I am counting my days, but with no specific goal but to make the most of it and have the most fun this season will allow.

Cheers to you and the start of the best season of the year, ski season!
