Re: “Lost in the Shuffle

Of course the department wants to get rid of Sally´s House, It works and it´s not good to have something around that works and helps children. You want to decrease monies spent and increase productivity. Stop running Children Services like you have an unlimited bank account.
Children Services was created to serve the needs of abused children. The department needs to look at how many people are in management positions that absolutely serve no purpose but shield liability from the person at the top. Having six AA´s doing what? Can you imagine building a house with one carpenter building the house and three construction managers overseeing that the carpenter is building the house. It needs to be just the opposite. Shouldn´t be anybody in Children Service that isn´t out in the field working with the children. Foster children don´t need Children Services sitting around in meetings talking about should be done. They need people that are dedicated to them out in the field making sure that their safe and secure.
The department doesn´t need to be in the adoption business. If there is anything that needs to be privatized it should be that. Having a highly traumatized child come into care and the first thing the social worker does is tell the adoptive foster parent, that this child is probably going to be legally free, and then three years later the child goes back to bio parents is wrong. The whole idea behind foster care is to give the child a safe and secure environment so that the parents can have a chance to get their children back. With the department being in the adoption business, it creates an atmosphere of competition between the foster parent and the bio parents.
Protect children, it was refreshing reading the statements from a social worker that is honest and transparent in his comments.
