Re: “The People Left Behind

It's unfortunate that you couldn't receive the help you felt you truly needed. I feel it's great that the Inlander decided to publish such a story so that people like you may have a chance some day, and if all of us got together and made it happen then surely you will have that opportunity. Don't give up hope but give it out.

Re: “The People Left Behind

Thank you Inlander, for sharing a much needed story with the public. It´s about time that a newspaper or media in general brings forth this very important topic to the public´s attention. I picked up the article yesterday and I never put it down until I finished it. It moved me, it brought me to complete tears, and it inspired me. Being only a young teen myself and had been through very hard and even dark times, it made me really happy to see that someone is willing to address this issue and reach out so others will reach out too.
I´m quite disappointed that everyone wishes to keep suicides a secret and that it shouldn´t be posted in media for fear of what may happen and fear of ´copycats´. But the reality is if nobody ever talks about it it will never be solved or at least helped. I think with how much media, social networking, movies, music, so on are going anymore now is the best time to bring this forward and to start a movement. Kids from ages 10 and up know far too much about things way too dark. It´s no secret that you see a kid who´s madly in love with the Twilight series tend to have a darker look about them and personality. And now it´s time for parents and adults and people to wake up and pay attention to what´s really influencing kids and just how it is.
The first page made me immediately want to start a fund raiser of some sort or a walk, then I flipped to the page that showed the date for the walk in Mission Park, and I am very glad to say I will be there and I hope there are much more people joining me. Still I wish there was more fund raisers to achieve more funds for young adults and even children who are in need of a better way out of whatever may be haunting them.
So I ask you Inlander, if there is something we can start and reach out to the community please let me know. Please let US know. Together we can stand up and reach our hands out to all the youngsters who think there isn´t a hand in the world and eyes willing to watch over them. If anyone else would like to join and find a way to help please let me know as well.
