Re: “What's wrong with the prediction that Spokane will be the site of the next mass shooting

To answer your first question, three Mother Jones reporters were responsible for "inputting that information" and creating the database. I know this because I was one of them. After the Colorado movie theater shooting, we were interested in chronicling how many times these random acts of mass gun violence had occurred in recent years. We also wanted to know who these shooters were, what kinds of weapons they used, how they obtained them, etc. Our database is publicly available for anyone (including you!) to scrutinize. All of our sources are listed for anyone to cross-reference. (See for yourself: Secondly, I have to stand up for my former employer; MoJo is hardly tabloid journalism. The magazine has won seven National Magazine Awards--including one last year for David Corn's "47 percent" scoop --and numerous others. These aren't handed out like candy. Finally, check your reading comprehension: Mother Jones didn't make that asinine prediction; the Atlantic did. That's plainly stated in the first sentence of this blog post.
