Re: “Big City Living

Downtown is a wonderful area and would benefit most from middle to middle+ housing. I work in healthcare & see patients downtown in their home setting. We have a very large amount of subsidized housing for people who cannot afford the neighborhood they live in. Most of my patients do not shop or eat downtown. They ride SMS to grocery shop away from the downtown core. The Main market is nice, but not a store a significant percentage of downtown residents can afford.
We lack middle income earners downtown, particularly families. I think making downtown more child/family friendly is important to long term growth.
We have very welthy or subsidized housing now, these 2 ends of the financial spectrum that will never lead to a thriving city. Spokane needs middle incomes & accessibility for downtown to thrive.
