A Grand Celebration: Reintroducing the State Capitol’s Historic Moldenhauer Grand Piano

The recently restored 1893 Bluthner grand piano that has for the last 27 years occupied the Reception Room of the Washington State Capitol will be introduced to the public in Spokane, where it was a part of Spokane’s important music scene for more than 50 years. The piano was a gift to the State of Washington from the estate of one of Spokane’s most famous musicians, Dr. Hans Moldenhauer, in 1990. The piano has been restored by Ken Eschete of Bentside Arts in Spokane. The restoration was funded by the State Legislature and supported by the Capitol Furnishings Preservation Committee.
