Re: “WA state senator launching effort to change racially offensive names

To rename all of the local geographical features in our surrounding area would do a great injustice to our local history. First of all it would take away from the history of that place, the area in question would lose its historic value. Whether the story behind it is politically correct or not, it is historic nonetheless. We cannot turn back time and undo the pain and suffering that may have happened there. If we are to change names of said places the stories, meaning, and lessons beneath their present title will be lost and their practical teachings will fade away. If we are to change "Squaw Valley" to "Eisenhower's cut out" it would do an immense disservice to the preservation of history of the area and to the people surrounding it. Red, black, and white. You can read plenty about dead presidents in our right wing revised history books in public schools. To improve the future you have to get an unfiltered view of the past. This message coming from a very open and accepting liberal who is more often than not quite pc. Thank you for your consideration on the matter at hand.
