In partnership with Gonzaga University’s Public Center for Public Humanities, the Hagan Foundation Center for the Humanities hosts American poet, educator and scholar Yusef Komunyakaa. (In the Hagan Foundation Center for the Humanities; Learning Resources Center, Bldg. 16, second floor) Komunyakaa, Pulitzer Prize winner, grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and received a Bronze Star for his work as a correspondent during the Vietnam War. His ability to share stories and insights through a combination of narrative, jazz rhythms and personal vernacular paved the way to several other awards.
