Behold! The Sun Comes Over the Mountain

Though they are only 20 miles apart, the Spokane and neighboring North Idaho community vibes are completely different. Artist Kelley O’Brien explores the natural elements that connect the two geographical regions’ spaces during her exhibition Behold! The Sun Comes Over the Mountain, a weeklong art showing. O’Brien’s project, made up of large-scale drawings, projected video work and interactive lighting, focuses on the border between Eastern Washington and North Idaho as a place of connection rather than separation. The exhibit highlights natural elements that overlap between the two places, such as the Spokane River, the sun and old growth cedars in Liberty Lake.
