Hangouts

Off-campus: Once again as always, Showies is still the most popular hangout with the Eastern crowd. However, the past year has brought a few new clubs to the Cheney nightlife. One of these new additions -- the bar and club XTC -- may just give Showies some serious competition. Willow Spring Station is popular, too, both as a restaurant and as a bar.

On-campus: The Pence Union Building has everything for the discerning connoisseur of fine cafeteria food and espresso creations. Don't forget the Internet Caf & eacute;, a hot destination for Web surfers and study groups alike.

Events

The first football game of this season is on Sept. 7 when Montana Tech visits EWU. Homecoming weekend -- complete with bonfires and bed races -- is on October 19, the same day the Eagles meet Northern Arizona at 2:05 pm.

New in 2002

Eastern will open a brand new residence hall with the start of classes this fall. Located just two blocks off campus, Brewster Hall will house 135 EWU students and boast a caf & eacute; and a bookstore as well. The college is also home to a new Forensic Science program that will be working in cooperation with the Washington State Highway Patrol to bring students real life working situations -- and a taste of all that cool stuff they do on CSI.
