Garden Expo 2014

Another way to celebrate Mom this weekend, especially if she has a green thumb, is The Inland Empire Gardeners’ annual Garden Expo at Spokane Community College. The one-day event has become known as one of the best places to find locally grown vegetable starts — there’s heirloom tomatoes galore — and colorful flowers to brighten up the yard all summer long. Also find funky and whimsical yard art, and learn how to grow succulents, aquatic plants or keep honeybees at some of the featured free lectures throughout the day. It’s a good idea to bring a wagon or cart if you plan to stock up on greenery to help Mom plant in her garden on Sunday.
