Playwright Tom Stoppard had a long history of success, thanks to popular and critical favorites like Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead and Night and Day when Hapgood first hit theater stages in 1988 to an overwhelmingly tepid response. Years later, the espionage thriller is enjoying a rebirth for its story centered on a government agent juggling motherhood with flushing out a mole in her midst from a crew of secret (maybe double-secret) agents, one of whom is leaking secrets to Moscow.
