Giving one last hurrah before the summer season departs, the Spokane Summer Parkways committee is going big with the first ever “Kidical Massive,” a super-sized version of its Kidical Mass neighborhood bike ride series held throughout the warmer months. The community ride incorporates the same goals as it’s predecessors: families and kids are invited to ride together as one to on anything with wheels, to spread the message that “Cycling Kids are Traffic Too.” Spokane riders won’t be alone in their efforts — the massive event coincides with similar events in 35 cities around the world, all happening this Saturday.
Kidical Mass began back in 2008, in Eugene, Oregon, as an instructional bike riding event. Spokane picked it up in 2013, and hasn’t looked back. The season finale ride takes place along 3 miles of the scenic Centennial Trail, starting and ending in Kendall Yards, and is also bookended by activities and on-site vendors.
