KuroNekoCon

Anime fans are one of the many pop subcultures here that many locals probably aren’t aware is totally thriving. Evidence of this is the seventh annual KuroNekoCon, which celebrates all things anime and Japanese pop-culture, and brought in more than 1,400 attendees last year. At this year’s con, guests can partake in cosplay contests, watch anime, meet artists and attend community dances that celebrate the musical side of anime. KNC, as it’s called for short, is a family-friendly affair, so no need to worry about covering the kids’ eyes from the adults-only side of the art form. Special guests this year include artists and voice actors who’ve worked on some of the most popular anime series out there.

Sat, Aug. 1, from 9 am-midnight; Sun, Aug. 2, from 9 am-10 pm • $10-$30 • Spokane Convention Center • 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. • kuronekocon.com
