Lake City Playhouse's "Tommy"

From the very beginning, the cast of characters Pete Townshend created for The Who’s 1969 rock opera Tommy seemed destined for the stage. How could anyone resist watching the deaf, dumb and blind kid-turned-“Pinball Wizard” navigate his life of a murderous father, sadistic Cousin Kevin, pedophile Uncle Ernie and the Acid Queen to become a powerful leader of a religious movement? Tommy was turned into an opera and feature film before becoming a Tony-winning Broadway musical, which will be tackled by the Lake City Playhouse and Friends of the Bing this weekend.
