Life is Fragile, Handle with Care

A nurse researcher whose work focuses on the psychological effects of violent injury speaks as the WSU College of Nursing’s 2018 Cleveland Visiting Scholar. Therese Richmond, PhD, co-founded the Penn Injury Science Center at the University of Pennsylvania, a collaboration of nursing, medicine, and criminology researchers. Her research focuses on people who are injured through assault or violence, including victims of gunshots and stabbings. The psychological effects of such injuries, such as depression and post-traumatic stress, can be substantial and can affect the victim's recovery.
