Re: “How Spokane's TV habits compare to the rest of the U.S.

PBS is not watched here much I guess, but I have enjoyed watching Dancing on the Edge lately and liked Mercy Street earlier in the year.

Re: “Local leaders react to Dallas shooting

Justice has been denied to the black community for too long, in that too many blacks have been shot without justification by police, with no consequences for the killers. Eventually people are going to react violently to that, and innocent people will be hurt. That is what happened in Dallas yesterday. I feel sad for the slain officers, but I also grieve for the young black people who have been killed by law enforcement personnel over the last few years, from Tamir Rice to Sandra Bland to the two young men who died this past week in St. Paul and Baton Rouge.

Re: “'I Do Not Trust Muzlims'

I noted Larry Haskell's absence from the forum on Smart Justice held at Gonzaga late last year. Maybe his wife wouldn't let him come.

Re: “Immigration initiative draws jeers and cheers to City Council

Undocumented persons are sometimes victims of crime. Do we want them to refrain from calling the police to report having been assaulted, raped, or robbed for fear of being questioned about their immigration status? That would have the effect of allowing a criminal to get away with his or her crime and feeling more free to attack others.

Re: “God's Endorsements

Is the IRS going to take away this preacher's tax-exempt status for his blatant violation of the law? If not, why not?

Re: “The real people using transit and the STA Plaza

The STA plaza is right where it ought to be to provide the best service to riders. It is also aesthetically pleasing with the waterfall, cougar statues, and Italian marble, better than the transit centers in many other urban areas. One is more likely to be harassed away from the plaza so I don't see the problem with keeping the plaza where it is.

Re: “DSP’s Mark Richard on delaying the STA Plaza renovations

I believe the Plaza as it is now is an asset to Spokane. Why shouldn't it be attractive? I like the Italian marble, the cougar statues by the escalator, and the atmosphere at the Plaza. It is something that other cities do not have, yet we are, stupidly, planning to get rid of much of what makes it an asset. WHY??
