Re: “SPOKANE CITY COUNCIL: Stuckart and his allies are winning

23% of Stratton's donors gave $25 or less. 1.4% of Verduin's donors gave $25 or less. Looking at their PDC donor info it really looked like Stratton was the candidate of the regular people.

Re: “Tragedy of John Wayne

I haven't ridden the JWT yet. But, I have ridden many of the wonderful rail trails in the midwest including large parts of Missouri's Katy Trail, which is the nations second longest rail trail (JWT is the longest by a few miles), and is "improved" for it's entire length. The Katy is loved by the people of Missouri, always has heavy use, and has been an economic boon for the small towns it passes though.

Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin all have extensive off road bike trail systems, all of them are greatly loved, see heavy use, and are revenue positive for the states and communities they pass through. I used live a couple 100 yards from Wisconsin's Chippewa River Trail and there were always lots of people on it when I used it. With the JWT being close to the second largest city in the State of Washington and only a short distance from I-90 there's no reason why an "improved" eastern end of the JWT couldn't be the same and be an economic boost for eastern WA.

One final note. While right now bicycles are seen as a "liberal" thing for some reason that hasn't always been the case. The Katy Trail was developed while John Ashcroft was the governor of MO and he was and is a big supporter of the trail.
