National Geographic Images of Idaho, 1944

Photos published by National Geographic during WWII are featured in a slideshow by Sheldon Bluestein. The images are from an article titled “Idaho Made the Desert Bloom” written by Idaho Sen. D. Worth Clark and published in June 1944 – the same month as D-Day. The article covered the state from Ashton to Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint. Bluestein’s program also includes present-day photos taken at the same location of some of the 1940s images. This program is presented in partnership with the Museum of North Idaho.
