Small-town living in the Inland Northwest is on full display every summer, when the region’s outlying communities open up the gates and invite visitors near and far to see and celebrate all they have to offer. Among these many community festivals is this weekend’s 71st annual Newport Rodeo & Festival, a two-day event that’s capped off by traditional rodeo showcases each evening. During the day, a community vendor and food fair offers more than 100 booths to explore and shop at, along with family-friendly activities like face painting, balloon artists and more. There’s also a parade through town on Saturday morning at 11 am, live music each afternoon and a chance to meet this year’s Newport Rodeo queen, Leana Newman.
