My comment should be directed at "Spokoresident" not Charlie Greenwald, sorry!

Re: “Tragedy of John Wayne

Thanks for the article. I rode the JWPT in August. It took me 5 days to reach Spokane from North Bend. The Eastern portion is quite wild and beautiful in a stark way. I envision this trail ultimately as a paved or packed gravel cross state route that will atract score of bicycle tourism to Eastern Washington and the greater Northwest. Funding is needed to make this happen, but the vision is there!
@Charlie Greenwood: Rock ballast was not present anywhere on the JWT trail from the junction with Columbia Plateau Trail (aka Fish Lake Trail) clear to Seattle, so I don't know what you are talking about. Ballast however IS a problem though on the CPT/ FLT, and so really what we need is the trail needs to be fixed, and water and pit toilets installed. Then people would use it. I rode it in August in 100 degree heat and it wasn't really that insurmountable. Hard, yes, but totally worth it. Its wild and scenic country, with abundant wildlife. I think a lot of people would enjoy it had a bit more maintainance. As to millions having already been spent on it, what are you referring to? It didn't look like the state has spent a dime on the Eastern section, which is the problem.

Re: “VIDEO: Pilsner 37 canning day at Orlison Brewing Co.

Awesome video! I've always wondered how canning worked. But seriously, who buys four packs of beer? I know they are doin' the numbers and all, but I really hate four packs. Less beer for the same price, or more? Hmmm...no thanks.

Re: “Sprague Avenue Stories

Great feature on Sprague Ave! Would have liked to see a shout out to the awesome Stex Motorsports shop, so here's my input. Stex Motorsports is a gorgeous vintage motorcycle shop and musuem space across from Jones Radiator. It's a fantastic place to check out cool old motorcycles, scooters and mopeds of all sizes, makes and years, and the new Russian "Ural" 2wd motorcycles, too and the owners are friendly, and clearly passionate about old motorcycles.
