Northwest Horror Fest

The days are getting shorter and Halloween decorations are going up, so you know what that means: It’s officially horror movie season. This weekend, the Garland Theater is hosting the Northwest Horror Fest, which screens a selection of regionally made horror shorts assured to chill. A panel of independent judges dole out awards in a number of categories, including special effects, editing, direction and a prize for best overall film. With titles like “1-800-Witches Gotta Burn” and “Dr. Jekyll in Love,” how could you not get into the spooky spirit? And considering popular horror features like Lights Out, Mama and The Babadook began as short subjects, maybe you can catch an early version of the next creepy classic. Recommended for viewers 13 and older.
