I'm super against all the fad diets.
Why are you so opposed?
Because I think they're just trends. Our bodies are pretty simple, you need carbs, fats and proteins.
I haven't, but my mom did the candida diet — cut out alcohol, sugar, gluten — and it went really well for her. She lost like 30 pounds.
I did paleo for a month in high school. It worked because I completely eliminated processed foods and sugars, so I lost 5 or 6 pounds and got more toned. I think a large reason it worked for me is because it naturally put me in a caloric deficit so I was losing weight because the diet made me naturally eat less because my food was very restricted.
I just know that I couldn't stick to it, so I don't want to start something that I can't stick to. And balanced diets have always worked for me. Going to something that cuts out certain food groups never has appealed to me. I've done like no meat for Lent, for religious reasons, and that has never gone well.
I just try to eat healthy all around and incorporate fruits and veggies and fiber and all that stuff. Maybe low sugar, but I'll still indulge in packaged foods and all sorts of things.
