Re: “Swapping Stories

Once you solicit sex via Craigslist you give your personal life up to the public domain – while many of us don’t want to judge people based on their sexuality or choices of that nature and most of us certainly don’t want our personal lives to have this kind of negative impact on our employment – you take your chances when you choose this life style and especially when you are looking for “dates” on-line. While the way the situation was handled may be deemed an “abomination” by another commenter, this was a personal choice made in a public domain with personal consequences that had an effect in the public domain, a loss of employment, that’s life. We all face choices in life some easy, some hard, some good, some bad. Sounds like the Ryan’s made a questionable choice, maybe looking for partners on line isn’t a good choice, maybe some discretion would have been a better choice. Crazy things happen on the internet, people get scammed, cheated, and even outed – buyer beware.
If we are going to hold the decision of the theater to scrutiny then we need to hold the Ryan’s to scrutiny. They gave away a piece of their personal life to a nameless, faceless being in cyberspace, there is some risk involved in that decision. The real issue here is neither the Ryan’s or the theater but the “anonymous” Craigslist contact and email writer – they’ve caused all kinds of pain for those involved on both sides. If y’all are going to throw stones you should aim them in the right direction.
