Re: “City Council President Ben Stuckart has already filed to run for mayor — in 2019

How can anyone think that voting for an arrogant, egotistical, self-righteous, liberal and corrupted man like Ben Stuckert for Mayor is beneficial or better for Spokane? Ben Stuckert pretends to care for the people of Spokane, when in reality, all he cares is about his own self-interest, and about greed. A perfect example about him not caring about the people of Spokane is demonstrated when he decided to give himself and that of his buddies in the council members an increase in salary by 44 %. Now tell me that as a mother struggling daily that is fair, but yet, he pretends to care. Ben Stuckert, you never have cared nor do you care about us, the residents of Spokane. You are an evil, vindictive, malicious man with an agenda of self-promotion and greed whose intention is to convert our city and make it look like that of Seattle and Sand Diego, CA. You are about the special interest and your own interest, not ours or that of small business.

This is a copy of the article in the Spokesman-Review talking about the salary increase, Ben Stuckert decided along with his buddies they were entitled to. never mind, that they wanted the job to serve the people. As a public servant, just like people who serve in churches, is a choice you make. But in the case of some of the Spokane City council members, they feel public service is about entitlements and about greed in the name of service. They exploit taxpayers and expect to be supported, and then they spread lies about true public servants who actually care about us and about Spokane. Enough is enough. No public servant who is a pretender deserves our vote or support.

This is a copy of the article about the City Council members salary increase. To those of you reading, please, do not be fooled by this liar and corrupted politician.

Spokane City Council members will get a nearly $14,000 pay increase beginning next year, a 44 percent raise, following a decision by the city’s Salary Review Commission last week.

The decision came after three months of research by the five-member commission, which included reviewing salaries of other elected municipal officials in the state, Spokane’s median household income and cost-of-living data. Council members also provided testimony to the commission.

Beginning Jan. 1, the six council members will be paid $45,100, a 44 percent increase over their current annual wage of $31,200. Council President Ben Stuckart will receive a much smaller increase, about $1,400. He will be paid $58,630 a year, or 30 percent more than council members. Currently, Stuckart earns $57,200.

Councilwoman Lori Kinnear, who recently was elected to the council but has worked in its offices for years, said the increase was “fair” considering the amount of work members do.

“It is a public service,” she said. “It’s not a 40-hour-a-week job. It’s 50, sometimes 60.”

Kinnear said the new wage would make public office more accessible to people who are not retired, independently wealthy or relying on a higher-earning spouse.

Councilman Breean Beggs agreed.
