Poetry for Non-Poets

When: Sat., Oct. 3 and Sat., Nov. 14 2015
Just before he passes the torch to Spokane’s second-ever Poet Laureate at the end of this month, the city’s master of stanzas, Thom Caraway, is hosting a class to share his line-writing wisdom with those of us less inclined to writing in verse form. Directly from the free workshop’s description: “This class is designed for you — the poetry layperson who wants to understand what all the fuss is about. ... Hopefully, you’ll leave the class with a new or renewed interest in getting out and hearing some of the great work being done by poets in Spokane!” We can only begin to speculate who the city’s next Poet Laureate will be; they’ll be announced on Oct. 30. And don’t worry: Caraway is only passing along the title, not his talents nor his passion to share it with others.

Sat, Oct. 3, from noon-2 pm (also Sat, Nov. 14, from 4-6 pm) • Free • Spark Center • 1214 W. Summit Pkwy. • sparkwestcentral.org
