Re: “Fading Glory

I vote to restore the original flag! A far, far better design than any of the more recent versions. A sun, and what might have even been an intentional abstraction of the river and the lower falls (white stripe and fan) Lilac color too.

Re: “Spokane Style

Great article, including the coverage on Ken Brooks. Mr. Brooks' appreciation for the larger context of architecture - including his ideas on improving Spokane's relationship with the river is something few are aware of. Bill Youngs' excellent book "The Fair and the Falls" provides a great quote from Brooks, showing just how far ahead of his time he was: “Look, if you’re going to do something for the City of Spokane, reclaim that river. Get the pollution out of it; get it back to its original state if possible. And it should be the feature of our city.” Were he alive today, am sure Ken would be pleased at our City's progress - and would urge us to keep at it.

Re: “Why people camping out for the new iPhone won't be cited under the sit-lie law

I live and work downtown, and have a first-hand appreciation for the need for a sit/lie ordinance. There may be room for improvement in how it's written, but suspect there'll always be the need to exercise judgement on how Spokane's sit/lie is implemented. Tough jobs, creating laws and enforcing them. In the real world, things aren't just black and white.
