I’ve seen Snoop Dogg several times through the years. There have been incredible shows with Snoop backed by live musicians and invoking P-Funk levels of booty-shaking riffs and deft showmanship, and there have been shows with utter chaos on stage — dancers, audience members, random passersby — as Snoop rocked through his slew of hits accompanied by just a DJ. The lanky rapper is both an entertaining frontman and purveyor of a lot of monster-sized hits: “Gin & Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Lay Low” for starters. Perhaps the presence of Warren G as opener will push Snoop to lean into his early material at this first of two shows at Northern Quest.
