Spokane String Quartet

The Spokane String Quartet closes down its season with a performance unlike anything you’ve likely heard lately — classical or otherwise. “Visions of Native America” showcases the group tackling works composed by Native Americans and others inspired by the music of the American West. Most of the works come from young composers of Oklahoma’s Chickasaw Nation, the results of an education program led by Chickasaw composer and teacher Jerod Tate, who specializes in working with young Native composers. The quartet will perform four pieces by Tate’s students, in addition to Charles Griffes’ “Two Sketches on Native American Themes.”
