Spokane Symphony Masterworks 7: Appalachian Spring
When: Sat., Feb. 29, 8-10 p.m. and Sun., March 1, 3-5 p.m. 2020
Enjoy music from American visionaries. Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring represents the quintessential “American sound," and captures the essence of American ideals, filled with endless possibilities. Copland’s lyrical Clarinet Concerto, written for Benny Goodman, infuses swing elements with Brazilian folk music. Works by Gershwin and Bernstein incorporate virtuoso jazz instrumentalists into the orchestra. Philip Glass’ Overture for 2012 commemorates the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Feb. 29 at 8 pm and March 1 at 3 pm.
