Re: “Three different parties may be vying for Ridpath

If the city allows it to be sold to someone who then wants to put another ugly surface parking lot downtown, everyone in city hall, from the secretaries to the mayor, should just turn in their resignations.

Re: “GOP's Local Layover

These republican "leaders" don´t have time to socialize with the stupid common man, we don´t give enough money for them to have time for us. All they care about is the money and the rich people who hands it to them.

Re: “Rethinking Riverfront

I am all for them updating the park, it is looking worn out, especially the pavilion area. I would also like to see a beach along the river downtown and I am sure they could build a barrier along the swimming area so the river flows aren´t strong.
Also, as mentioned in the article, we have so many boring, gross, ugly parking lots all around the park that should be developed with shops and restaurants. I don´t think we need to be building any new stores or restaurants along the waterfront in the park, I would rather have a view of a river over a view of a store along the river banks...we can do that everywhere else in Spokane besides Riverfront Park.
On a kind of separate issue, does anyone know why the city continues put up that UGLY metal barrier around the fountain every summer? We have this beautiful fountain but the city uglies it up every summer with this stupid ugly metal fencing around it. If you want a barrier around the fountain why not build something more permanent and nicer.

Re: “First Impressions

I agree with this article, as I say to people, to get downtown you have to go through a circle of ugly first.
However, how can we expect to get anything fixed when we live in Spokane and more than half the city is diehard republicans who don´t want to spend any money on anything, period. Just look at the comments from people on the Spokesman Review website, if you want to live in a nice city move to Portland or Seattle. To many people in Spokane think private business should run and fix everything...yet haven´t seen any business stepping up and offering fix up and make the entrances to Spokane nicer. Oh yeah, because they cannot make a profit off it.

Re: “Tug of War

Once again the intolerant religious right are out in force trying to push their religious agenda´s on everyone.
Not everyone believes in your book of fairy-tails and bedtime stories, and you hate it when non-religious people try and tell you what to believe, yet you seem to have no problem forcing your religious views on everyone else.
Also nice to see churches and religious groups proving to all how they are the most intolerant and hateful people around.

Re: “The Loyal Opposition

YES!!! I am so tired of Spokane democrats being spineless babies when going up against this woman. She should be so easy to beat if we just had someone who could throw a punch or two while taking a few at the same time. Cathy has done so little to help out Spokane and her district if the democrats just ran ANYONE who could attack her and point out how little she has done, then they might actually have a chance.

Re: “Rehab Candidate

A new president? I see Mr. Nethercutt is like all the other republicans who have a short term memory.
Mitt is proposing to enact the exact same policies that the Bush administration enacted and put the country into the current mess it is in, and is even proposing he would take the country into ANOTHER war, this time with Iran.
Have you already forgot that the day Obama stepped into office we were LOSING over 750,000 jobs a month? Yes, 150,000 jobs being ADDED isn´t great, but it´s not to bad when you have one whole political party not doing anything to help the country and refusing to work with the president only so they can make him a one-term president. Also doesn´t help that the republicans have made 60 votes the new majority thus ensuring NOTHING gets passed in the senate.
Yes, the democrats have been pretty worthless the last 4 years, but at least they have tried to do something - only to be denied at every turn by the republicans. How many bills have the REPUBLICAN lead house of representatives passed (you know what that is, you spent how many years in that place, after of pushing that whole term limit lie thing that put you into office)? Let me answer that for you Mr. Nethercutt, that would be ZERO, they have passed zero jobs bills to help the country while they have been in charge. But, they have passed bills about abortion, only for those bills to go nowhere, and even had time to pass bills to name Post Offices (even though they hate the Postal Service). That sounds like it will help the country get back to work!!!
Yes, blame the current president for everything and vote in the guy touting the policies of George W. Bush, that sounds like a great idea Mr. Nethercutt. Please, stop spouting the typical republican talking points.
